I have received a few mails asking why do i only mention about AirAsia all the time. The answer is pretty simple. This site emphasizes on cheap traveling; from accommodations to flights. As of this time, AirAsia is still very much cheaper and that’s if you do manage to get the tickets during their promotional period.
If there is any other airlines that do have promotions, i will gladly share it with all of you

A friend forwarded this to me, i have yet to receive any email notification. So here’s a heads up for those who are planning to travel to the following places:

We were forced to overnight at Jakarta after our flight got delayed to the next day. Of course we did prepare for this circumstances and based on our homework prior to this trip, we found out Jalan Jaksa (Jaksa Road) of Jakarta is one of the cheapest places to stay in Jakarta.

The taxi drivers themselves agreed that that is the place for backpacking or an overnight stay.

The whole street had a few guesthouses/hostels but upon arrival, most of them were full for the night. Our initial choice was Hotel Le Margot. So we settled for Bloem Steen Hostel when the owner said he had place for the 10 of us.

The rooms weren’t that clean but at least the beds were. There’s no attached bathroom, only common bathroom.

For 3 pax, we were charged Rp 85000 (Roughly USD 10). So that works out to slightly over USD 3 per pax. No breakfast is provided.

Jasmine Lodge which has a tagline, “A home away from home” definitely did make us feel like home, especially with their friendly staffs. The rooms were better than expected and not forgetting their simple breakfast which was complimentary. Upon switching on our phones, we discovered there’s free wifi at the lodge.

We took 3 to a room (Triple sharing) for the guys and 4 to a room (Quad sharing) for the girls.

The rooms had single beds for all of us, a tv, hotshower as well as A/C. Besides that at the main area of the lodge, you can play pool as well as watch tv.

Jasmine Lodge also engages in tours around Siem Reap which includes Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom. They have packages according to the number of days you would be there and it’s customizable according to your preference.

A day before AirAsia’s Zero Fare promotion, Tunehotels has done something similar, 9 cents per night for Tunehotels around Malaysia and RM 3 per night for Bali.

So those aiming to visit Penang, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Singapore and Bali, look no further and book tunehotel!

Some may ask if the room is good compared to other hotels. Based on my experience, the only time i am ever in my room is when i am off to sleep. That’s about it. Though the room might be small but it serves its purpose. Hot shower, aircond, queen size bed and wifi!

u12travel tip: Let’s say you are on a tight budget but you would still want to try one of the local hotels, you could stay in Tunehotels for the first few nights and probably opt for a local hotel on the final night. In this manner, you have the best of both worlds without breaking the bank

It’s finally confirmed! AirAsia posted up this picture slightly more than half an hour ago and it’s Zero Fare people! I have been waiting for this, you have been waiting for this and now we have about 5 days to plan out.

Of course when it’s Zero Fare, the travel period would be next year (2011).

Make sure you read on How to Secure Your Zero Fare tickets FAST. Last year, i managed to get return tickets to the Philippines for RM 45 (less than USD 15). I only paid for the airport tax.

So here’s a tip for you, check out the tax for the airport of the country you have in mind. Cause that could be the only thing you would need to pay. Of course selecting seats, checking in luggage, etc would add to the cost but DON’T bother doing that during the booking period. Why? I have already answered it here.
